Fees & Validity
ETIAS Fees and Validity: Cost, Duration, and Renewal
ETIAS is designed to be cheap and long-lived: a €20 fee buys an authorisation that is valid for up to three years and allows unlimited short visits.
The fee
- €20 per application, paid online by card.
- Free for applicants under 18 and over 70.
- Free for family members of EU citizens who qualify for family-member status.
- Background: the fee was raised from the originally planned €7 to €20 to cover operating costs.
There is no refund if your application is unsuccessful. And if a website asks for more than €20, you are not on the official portal.
Validity
Your ETIAS is valid for three years, or until the travel document used in your application expires — whichever comes first.
During its validity you can enter the participating countries as often as you want, as long as each stay respects the short-stay rule: at most 90 days in any 180-day period. You must hold a valid ETIAS during your entire stay.
Special rule for Cyprus: days spent in Cyprus are counted separately and do not consume your 90 days for the other ETIAS countries.
When to renew
- When your ETIAS reaches the end of its three-year validity.
- When your passport expires or is replaced — a new passport always means a new ETIAS.
- When your name, gender or nationality changes, you also need a new authorisation.
Renewal is simply a new application via the official portal. An authorisation obtained as a minor remains valid after turning 18, until it expires.
Our €5 service fee
You can always apply yourself, directly on the official EU portal, for just the €20 fee. If you'd rather we handle it for you, MyETIAS charges a flat €5 service fee on top — shown separately and never marked up. So you pay €25 in total: the €20 official fee plus our €5.
What the €5 covers:
- A guided application with plain-language checks before you submit, so mistakes don't get your ETIAS refused.
- Support in your own language.
- No subscription, no hidden costs, no inflated "processing" fees.
Built to be trustworthy with your data
We only keep your purchase details — your email address — so we can send your confirmation and receipt. We use your passport and personal information solely to submit the application; we never store those afterwards, and we never sell or share your data. No passport on file, no marketing database.
