The definitive list is confirmed by the EU at launch. Ireland is not part of Schengen and will not require ETIAS.

Schengen vs. non-Schengen

Most participating countries are part of the Schengen area, where internal border checks have been abolished — one entry covers the whole area.

Cyprus is an EU member that is not yet part of Schengen but will still require ETIAS. Days spent in Cyprus are counted separately from your 90-day allowance in the rest of the ETIAS area. Ireland is not part of Schengen and will not require ETIAS — it operates its own entry rules.

Short stays and transit

ETIAS is required for entry by air, sea and land, for any short stay up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

Airport transit: if you stay airside and don't cross the external border, ETIAS is generally not required — but carriers may verify your documents, and rules will be confirmed in the official guidance at launch.
